GREEN BARBUDA SOLAR HYBRID PROJECT

To address climate change issues and aim for a sustainable supply of electricity to the population of Barbuda, a fruitful collaboration between the UAE- Caribbean Renewable Energy Fund (UAE-CREF) has taken place to implement a Hybrid Solar Photovoltaics Power Plant in replacement of the older one damaged by hurricane IRMA in 2017.
The new Hybrid Plant combines solar power generation from a photovoltaic system (720 kWp), electricity storage in a Lithium-ion Battery (750 kW/ 900 kWh) and diesel back-up (820 kVA).
